Indianapolis: Race cars, football, and . . . music? You bet your ass. Indy’s got music happening every night of the week, with outstanding local bands filling halls and touring acts filling arenas. It’s not hard to find something to do in this town but we try and make it a little bit easier.

Steve Poltz at Sabbatical

“Southern California’s Steve Poltz is one of the most beloved songwriters of his generation. His music–as both a solo artist and with cult legends The Rugburns–has enjoyed long stretches in the Billboard top ten, gobbled up acres of mainstream radio and appeared in scores of television shows, commercials and movies. He has collaborated with everyone from Jewel to Glenn Tillbrook to Mojo Nixon, and his legendary live show has earned him a ferocious global fan base that makes soccer hooligans seem coquettish and reserved.”

Lloyd and Harvey’s Burlesque Ballyhoo at White Rabbit Cabaret

“Winter is known for bringing down the overall levels of sass, but for one night only, you can boost your levels by making an appearance at this nudity-laced and lace-clad event. The ladies of Hasenpfeffer & The Rocket Doll Revue will be peeling their clothes while Lloyd and Harvey keep the action moving as hosts. The Rabbit is welcoming featured performer and special guest Pepper Mills, and plenty of fun between acts.”

MJ

MJ is a songwriter and local musician, freelance writer, baseball enthusiast, lover of travel, and a terrible mechanic. When MJ graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Creative Writing, he was immediately barraged with 'questions' of "What are you gonna do, teach?" He is determined to not get a job teaching. So far, so good. With music, MJ's traveled the country touring on his songs. Having spent time in places from Chicago to Seattle, LA to New Orleans, and Nashville to NYC, he is convinced that Detroit and its 'burbs have the the highest concentration of 'native' songwriting talent anywhere. Eat it, New York. You too, LA. MJ started writing for the Urbane Life in the summer of 2011. He also writes for a handful of other websites as well as an immigration lawyer. He used to work in a publishing house. He's glad he's out.
