beer tastingBeer lovers! There’s an event in Indianapolis on Saturday that you don’t want to miss.

It’s the Annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival held in Indianapolis neighborhood Broad Ripple Village, July 16, this Saturday. Of course, it’s the place for you to be if you love beer. Even better if you love microbrews. And if you like local microbrews? Well. We better see you there.

The festivities start at 3 p.m. Saturday, with VIP gates opening an hour earlier, and go until 7 p.m. Of course, no kids allowed, but we didn’t have to tell you that. And, it’s all for a good cause — proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

To get you in the mood, as if you need to be put in the mood for a beer tasting, I thought it would be funny to put together some fun beer quotes and facts:

My personal favorite: “Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.” -Ernest Hemingway

It was the accepted practice in Babylonia 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the “honey month” – or what we know today as the “honeymoon.”

“Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.” -Dave Barry

What’s your favorite microbrew?
